Drink Waters' Commitment to Eco-Responsible Logistics
by Guillaume ZARKA
At Drink Waters, our commitment to the environment goes beyond our products. We strive to minimize our environmental impact at every stage of our process, including in our supply chain. In this article, we'll explain how we implement environmentally responsible practices in our logistics, such as using low-emission trucks.
Our approach to green logistics
Green logistics, or eco-logistics, is a set of practices aimed at reducing the environmental impact of logistics activities. According to a study published in the "International Journal of Production Economics", the optimization of transport networks can lead to a significant reduction in environmental impact (Source: A. Seuring, M. Müller, From a literature review to a conceptual framework for sustainable supply chain management, Journal of Cleaner Production, Volume 16, Issue 15, 2008, Pages 1699-1710).
The use of low-emission trucks
One of the most effective ways to reduce the carbon footprint of our supply chain is to use low-emission trucks. These vehicles are designed to consume less fuel and emit fewer greenhouse gases than traditional trucks. A study from "Transportation Research Part D: Transport and Environment" showed that the use of low-emission vehicles can lead to a 20% to 30% reduction in CO2 emissions (Source: Schipper, Lee & Marie-Lilliu, C & Gorham, R. (2000). Flexing the Link between Transport and Greenhouse Gas Emissions).
Optimization of transport routes
In addition to using low-emission trucks, we are also working on optimizing our transport routes. Through the use of advanced technologies, we are able to plan our routes in a way that minimizes the distance traveled and therefore fuel consumption. This not only reduces our environmental impact, but also improves the efficiency of our supply chain.
Reduction of packaging waste
At Drink Waters we understand that packaging can be a significant source of waste. That's why we strive to minimize the use of unnecessary packaging and opt for recyclable or biodegradable materials whenever possible. According to a study published in the "Journal of Cleaner Production", using recyclable packaging materials can reduce environmental impact by 20% to 30% (Source: Verghese, K., Lewis, H., Lockrey, S ., Williams, H. (2015). Packaging's Role in Minimizing Food Loss and Waste Across the Supply Chain).
Conclusion :
At Drink Waters, we are committed to doing our part to protect the environment. By adopting an ecologically responsible approach to our supply chain, we show that it is possible to reconcile trade and respect for the environment. We are proud of these efforts and will continue to look for ways to make our operations even more sustainable in the future.
